Description

Proton pump inhibitor (PPI); S-isomer of omeprazole Used for GERD, NSAID-induced ulcer healing and prevention, erosive esophagitis, H. pylori eradication, upper GI rebleeding prophylaxis after therapeutic endoscopy, and hypersecretory conditions; available OTC for heartburn Avoid concomitant use with clopidogrel; consider using a PPI with less CYP2C19 inhibitory activity.

Composition

Each capsule contains enteric coated pellets of Esomeprazole magnesium trihydrate equivalent to esomperazole 20mg & 40mg (USP Specs)

Indication

ESOZON is used: For the treatment of symptomatic, non-erosive gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). For the treatment of pathological hypersecretion associated with Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. For the treatment of short-term treatment of frequent dyspepsia or pyrosis (heartburn) that occurs >= 2 times per week. For Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) eradication. For the treatment of diagnostically confirmed erosive esophagitis due to GERD. For upper GI re-bleeding prophylaxis after therapeutic endoscopy. For NSAID-induced ulcer prophylaxis or gastric ulcer healing. For the treatment of proton-pump inhibitor-responsive esophageal eosinophilia (PPI-REE) in the differential diagnosis of eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE). For the treatment of gastric acid hypersecretion associated with cysteamine therapy for nephropathic cystinosis. For stress gastritis prophylaxis in critically-ill patients.
