Tenofovir DF (a prodrug of tenofovir) which is a fumaric acid salt of bis-isopropoxycarbonyloxymethyl ester derivative of tenofovir. In vivo tenofovir DF is converted to tenofovir, an acyclic nucleoside phosphonate (nucleotide) analog of adenosine 5’-monophosphate. Tenofovir exhibits activity against HIV-1 reverse transcriptase.

Composition

Each film coated tablet contains: Tenofovir Disproxil Fumarate 300mg equivalent to 245 mg of Tenofovir (USP Specs).

Indication

RELVIR is used; to treat HIV, the virus that can cause acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Relvir is not a cure for HIV or AIDS. Relvir is also used to treat chronic hepatitis B.
