Description

Oral, ophthalmic, and IV quinolone antibiotic Used for bacterial conjunctivitis, sinusitis, chronic bronchitis, pneumonia, skin and skin structure infections, UTIs, prostatitis, inhalation anthrax, and plague Associated with disabling and potentially irreversible adverse reactions, including tendonitis, tendon rupture, peripheral neuropathy, and central nervous system effects.

Composition

Each film coated tablet contains: Levofloxacin (as hemihydrate) 250mg, 500mg. (USP Specs).

Indication

RELVO is used; For the treatment of acute bacterial sinusitis. For the treatment of urinary tract infection (UTI). including pyelonephritis. For the treatment of acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis. For the treatment of lower respiratory tract infections, including community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) and nosocomial pneumonia. For anthrax prophylaxis after exposure to Bacillus anthracis (postexposure prophylaxis, PEP). For the treatment of plague infection, including pneumonic and septicemic plague, due to exposure to Yersinia pestis and for plague prophylaxis. For the treatment of complicated or uncomplicated mild to moderate skin and skin structure infections including an abscess, cellulitis, furunculosis, impetigo, pyoderma, wound infections, or diabetic foot ulcer. For the treatment of tuberculosis infection caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection in combination with other antituberculosis agents as second line therapy. For the treatment of chronic bacterial prostatitis or epididymitis. For the treatment of pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). For Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) eradication. For the treatment of anthrax. For the treatment of uncomplicated typhoid fever caused by Salmonella typhi. For the empiric treatment of febrile neutropenia as part of combination therapy. For surgical infection prophylaxis.
